Telehealth is a fairly recent innovation. Telehealth, also referred to as telemedicine, teletherapy, telebehavioral health, or online counseling, allows the facilitation of health-related services to patients via live video conferencing. Thanks to modern technology, just about everyone in the U.S. has a smart phone, tablet, or laptop capable of video chat. This ease of access to make video conferencing and phone calls has revolutionized the health industry, allowing therapists, counselors, psychologists, doctors, and nurses to interact with clients/patients through a convenient phone call. Telehealth, is therapy done through a live video connection over the internet. Research suggests that telehealth is just as effective as traditional face-to-face counseling.
Telehealth is the mode of delivering health care services (psychotherapy) to facilitate the diagnosis, consultation, treatment, education, care management, and self- management of a client’s mental health care while the client is at the originating site (where you, the client, currently resides) and the health care provider is at a distant site (where the therapist is residing or practicing from). Telehealth is just as private as in person counseling. The expansion of telehealth services was invaluable during the Covid-19 pandemic as it allowed us to meet the mental health needs of individuals. Due to this expansion expiring, we will no longer be offering telehealth (video/phone counseling) services after July 31, 2021. We may offer telehealth sessions in the future.
